Course Outline

The Postgraduate Diploma in Board Practice and Directorship (Stage 2) comprises of three modules taught over an intensive rezidential week, covering topics like :

PG Dip Module 4: Board Information and Communications

• Handling structure, volume and quality of information for better board dialogue
• Knowing the board and what matters to the organisation
• Best practices, tools and techniques
• Question technique; how to delve deeper and more broadly in decision-making

PG Dip Module 5: Board Reputation, Responsibility and Public Relations

• Reputation and responsibility at board level
• Governance execution and organisational sustainability
• Public relations, engaging with the press and media
• Managing reputational risk and crisis
• Considering the priorities of boards, including:
• Broader social and environmental issues, how to communicate the organisation’s purpose
• The impact and practice of lobbying and networking

PG Dip Module 7a: Mentoring and Coaching for Board Directors

• Mentoring workshops
• One-to-one interview session focused on your personal development
• Reflecting on your own behaviour, strengths and weaknesses
• Dealing with change, difficult situations, working in teams and self-awareness

 

Assesment Process

For each module, there will be a written assignment of 3,000 words (60%) and a case study (40%) presented in a 2 day workshop. Each module’s assignment accounts for 20 credits.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have successfully completed Stage 1: Postgraduate Certificate and of Henley MA Board Practice and Directorship Programme.

Enrolment process outline
Mandatory graduation of PGCert (Stage 1)

Enrolment Timeline: 

• Submission of payment form closing date: 1st September 2023
• Official confirmation of cohort running: 4th September 2023
• Distribution of invoices: 12th September 2023
• Acceptances and payments: 3rd October 2023
